Celebrating Five Years of Marriage

On October 27th, Dan and I celebrated five years of marriage.

In honor of this, we took a quick getaway to Niagara Falls. We stayed at the Four Points on the Canada side, the hotel did not have enough floors to have a view, but the accommodations were nice and it was connected to one of the casinos.

Unfortunately it was rainy and gloomy the entire time we were there, but the Falls were still absolutely stunning. We were able to go up in the Skylon Tower and do the Journey behind the Falls, where you actually go in a tunnel that brings you to openings that are behind the Falls. It was very neat. We also went to an IMAX movie and to see a 3D/4D movie called Niagara's Fury where you felt like you were on a boat that fell over the falls and you got wet too. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is going to the Falls. I would also recommend staying on the Canada side, the views of all the Falls are fantastic! 

 

 

They gave us ponchos to wear so that you wouldn't get soaked by the mist and it was raining too.

 

I bought a waterproof jacket that I wore most of the time we were there, I was avoiding wearing the big yellow poncho...

We went to an indoor butterfly garden and to see the floral clock.

 

Our last dinner while we were there, the view was amazing, the food was not so much.



Boo at the Zoo

We have been to Boo at the Columbian Park Zoo every year since Bradley was born, but this year was the first year that it didn't drizzle most of the time and the it wasn't freezing cold. The weather was wonderful! It 70 degrees an gorgeous outside!

It was the week before Halloween and Bradley put on his cowboy costume and Jaxson was dressed as a horse as requested by Bradley.

 

 

Once we arrived at Boo at the Zoo, we coincidentally met up with some of our friends. We spent most of the time we were there waiting in line for the "enchanted" train ride, but it was what both of the boys really wanted to do. Then I forgot to take pictures by the time we actually got to ride the train. Then we were left with about 15 minutes for the kids to play games and walk around the rest of the zoo. Next year, I think we may try to skip the train ride.

 

 

We ran into Kendal Rossiter, Addi Brunton, and Klohe Rossiter. (I am sure I spelled some one's name wrong. Sorry.) It was great to get them all to pose for a picture while we waited for the train.

 

Daddy had to work so Papa went with us.

We stopped by the petting zoo and Bradley got to try out goat farming.

 

It was such a nice evening!

 



Build and Grow

We had plans to take the boys to the pumpkin patch last Saturday, but the weather had other plans and it rained all day.

In the morning the four of us went to a Lowes Build and Grow Clinic. It was free, very neat and lots of fun. I just registered them online a few days before the clinic. Each of the boys were able to build a "Ghoul Bus," they were each given an apron, goggles and the building kit. They also got to borrow a kid sized hammer. Both of them were definitely in need of adult supervision to complete the project and it was enjoyable for everyone.

 

 

Bradley had a blast and can't wait to go to another one of these clinics.

 

 

Jaxson was afraid of the hammers at first, but really got into it once he saw what we were making.

 

This was the final product. Each of the boys earned a patch that I still need to iron onto their apron. Hopefully they will get more opportunities to earn more patches.


Making a Fall Tree

Not that we haven't been doing crafts and activities around here, but it has been a while since I have posted about it.

The other day Bradley really wanted to do a craft and Jaxson was still snoozing so we got onto Pinterest and started looking for an idea. We found a ton of awesome Fall Crafts, I think we will try the tangled pumpkin this weekend, once I dig out my orange yarn from my boxes of classroom in the basement.

Anyways, the other day we dug out some of the tissue paper that I have saved from birthday parties, because I never throw that stuff away, and I hate buying it. Then we got out some paper, scissors and a brown crayon.

It was probably one of the simplest crafts we have done, but he loved it and has been busy making one for everyone, even his "Aunt Doug."

This is mommy's, but we used the brown crayon to draw the tree trunks and branches.

 

 

Then we glued on the tissue paper to make fall leaves on the trees.

 

While we were doing our fall craft, I threw Jaxson's "baby" (his blanket) in the washer and this is what Jax was doing. He was banging on the washer and crying for his baby. I was so happy when it was finally clean, because it was difficult to keep him distracted for any period of time, before he was running back into the laundry room.



GQ Goes to Aunt Mandy's Wedding

 

This past weekend, I was in my friend Amanda's wedding.

I spent Friday doing her wedding flowers and all the festivities took place on Saturday.

Then on Saturday we got the boys all dressed up and Dan took them to see Mommy in a wedding.

I am slightly biased, but they looked very handsome!

 

 

I thought it was pretty neat, because Jaxson was wearing the tux without the jacket and red vest, that our ring bearer, Landon, wore in our wedding. I had to go out and buy Bradley's, but maybe Jax will get another wear out of that one someday too.

 



Baking Adventures with the Boys

Since I have been home the boys and I have been doing A LOT of baking.

So I thought I would share some of the cute pictures that I have snapped over the last month or so...

Truly a Feast

When I was younger, going to the Feast of the Hunter's Moon was an event with all of the extended family. My Aunt came in from out of town and we all got up early so that we could witness all of the festivities of the day.

Dan had been to the feast once, but couldn't really recall much of his visit.

We spontaneously visited this year. Dan and I had a very late grown-up night out the night before and the boys were down at my Aunt and Uncles. We woke up mid-morning and I called my Aunt to check on them and she informed me that the Feast was going on so there should be no worries of football traffic.

 We picked up Bradley and left Jaxson to take a nap and off to the Feast we went. I always loved seeing the boats at the boat ramp and we arrived just in time to see the boat races. Bradley thought they were pretty neat. On the way we stopped to get fry bread and it was yummy!

After the boat races it was off to eat even more food! We ate buffalo burgers, corn on the cob, apple dumplings, corn chowder, pumpkin pie, apple cider, french onion soup, sausage on a stick (not sure it was very authentic) and yes even more.

We watched the kids throw tomahawks and sat and listened to lots of fife and drum music. (Bradley liked the sounds that these instruments made.) There was also a stop at the kids bead tent.

 

Then it was back to Uncle Doug and Aunt Debs to pick up Jax and look for "treasures" (that is what Bradley calls the vegetables) in the garden. I think we dug up the biggest sweet potato I have ever saw, Bradley could barely hold it!

 

Yes it is ONE sweet potato!
